TENGFeiisanAssociateProfessorintheDepartmentofPhilosophyofScienceandTechnology, School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China. Her research interestsinclude environmental philosophy, climate ethics, and the ethics ofscience andtechnology. ShereceivedherPhDfromUtrechtUniversity, theNetherlands, in 2018, andwasavisitingscholarattheUniversité CatholiquedeLouvain, Belgium, in 2013.

Abstract：

Climate change is one ofthe most complex and pressing global issues, and its impacts are highly uneven across regions.As an ethical framework for global climate governance, climatejustice must address the inequalities in how climate change and its impacts are distributed across different regions and social groups. This requires theoretical studies toengage with diverse local conditions and practices in their specific contexts. The first part ofthis lecture introduces the growing contextualized orientation in climatejusticescholarship and summarizes a set of controversial issues related to this theoretical turn.In response to these debates, the lecture further introduces Confucianism as analternative ethical framework for climatejustice, one that integrates two majordimensions ofclimatejustice, intergenerationaljustice and environmentaljustice, withina relational and participatory understanding ofthe human_nature relationship.
